The Destiny-class platform continued to be used in various iterations all the way to the Carnival Splendor in 2008. The same year the veteran ship Festivale, the last of the original second-hand fleet, was retired. Rudi’s Seagrill™ is the brainchild of cookbook author and master chef Rudi Sodamin.
STATEROOM DESIGN
Most of these six ships (all but Carnival Venezia) have an a la carte barbecue-and-beer joint called Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse, too. BlueIguana is a Chipotle-style restaurant, with yummy made-to-order burritos and tacos. Created in partnership with Food Network's Guy Fieri, Guy's Burger Joint offers burgers that beat anything you'll find around the pool on other mass-market ships and even most luxury vessels. That said, Carnival has seen the success that some of its competitors have had with a bigger range of upscale accommodations, and it's eyeing more suites for future vessels. The new Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration each have 180 suites — more than twice the number of Carnival's other recent ships. Each of the vessels in Carnival's recent Vista Class series, for instance, offers fewer than 75 suites.

Dream class
Now, Carnival is switching gears — no doubt because the giant ships unveiled by some other lines have been enormously popular with cruisers. In general, Carnival ships are large but, aside from two exceptions, they're not giants by today's standards. Over the past two years, Carnival has begun operating its first two truly giant ships in years — the 181,808-ton, 5,282-passenger Mardi Gras and the 183,521-ton Carnival Celebration.
Holland America Line
The November 19 cruise was rescheduled to depart Fort Lauderdale on November 21 for a four-day cruise using new ports-of-call. Safety measures were also enacted on a few of the future cruises to prevent further contamination. These safety measures included fully suspending self-service on the buffet lines. When the first cruise after the outbreak ended on November 25, fewer than 60 passengers were reported to have contracted the norovirus.
Vista/Venezia class
On July 31, 2021, after numerous delays, the highly anticipated Mardi Gras entered service, sailing year round from Port Canaveral. In 2001, the new Panamax size Spirit class debuted with the Carnival Spirit, the first of the four-ship class within the Carnival fleet. Even during construction, we knew where we were heading with the big plans for Carnival Jubilee! So here’s your deck-by-deck look at where to find all the fun, and all the staterooms.
Carnival Dream
Carnival has a point-based frequent cruiser program, the VIFP Club, that has five tiers, ranging from Blue (requiring no points) to Diamond (200 points). Note that you'll be charged a $15 corkage fee if you want to bring the wine or Champagne to an onboard restaurant or bar to drink. Carnival allows you to bring one bottle of wine or Champagne per person onto ships at boarding plus up to a dozen standard cans or cartons of nonalcoholic drinks such as sodas.

In some recent years, Carnival has also deployed one of its Spirit-class ships across the Pacific to Australia — the most far-flung destination that it offers on its schedule. Carnival Spirit-class ships are the adventurers of the Carnival fleet. At 111,000 tons, the Conquest-class ships (and Carnival Splendor, noted above) are about 20% smaller than the newer Vista-class and Dream-class ships. For starters, the Dream-class ships don't have Imax theaters or trampoline parks. They also lack exclusive, keycard-restricted cabin areas and some of the eateries found on Vista-class ships. All of these ships hold about 4,000 passengers each, based on double occupancy.
Meet Carnival Jubilee™
Of course there’s also Celestial Strings, which reimagines rock and pop favorites as symphonic classical compositions, and We Are One, which has performers sometimes leaving the stage behind, actually soaring above the audience. You know we definitely see our share of coastal areas, so it’s easy to imagine how special a place it is to us. That’s why paying tribute to the magical spot where the water meets the land just feels so natural. That’s what’s going on at The Shores™, a new zone aboard Carnival Jubilee! Beaches, boardwalks and piers were just a little of what inspired us to create this zone that serves up just the right flavors and feels.

Coast Guard had been called to provide assistance to the ship due to an engine room fire.[10] The incident occurred while the ship was alongside in St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. This also caused more vibration then other carnival ships, and a shorter range due to the decrease in power and stability. For the most part, Carnival ships don't have quite as many features on board as Royal Caribbean or Norwegian vessels, in part because they're not as big.
Members earn one point for every night they sail on one of the line's ships. Most vessels have standard North American-style, 110-volt outlets in rooms, as well as European-style, 220-volt outlets. In addition, vessels offer extra-charge laundry and, on select ships, dry cleaning services. Carnival also offers a less expensive "social" plan that only allows access to key social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and messaging services such as WhatsApp for $15.30 a day when bought in advance.
The line is an excellent choice for families, and it offers both short and long voyages at a variety of price points that make cruising affordable for most travelers. Vacationers looking for a big resort experience with a lot of options should choose one of Carnival's newest ships, which are bigger and have more amenities. If you're looking for more intimacy on a cruise ship, some of the older classes of ships, such as those in the Spirit class, might be just right. Note that one of the Spirit-class ships, Carnival Luminosa, was originally built for Costa Cruises, a sister line to Carnival (it originally sailed under the name Costa Luminosa).
The fire led to a complete loss of power on the ship, which was stranded 200 miles south of San Diego, California. As a result, the Carnival Splendor required towing to return to port safely. This process was slow and painstaking, as the ship had to be carefully towed into the Mexican port of Ensenada.
That's a noticeable difference if you're the kind of vacationer who doesn't like to be around giant crowds. For some Carnival fans, the smaller size of the Conquest class and Splendor class makes these ships appealing. In addition to featuring a roller coaster, Mardi Gras was the first ship from a North America-based line designed to operate on liquefied natural gas.
